Standard Alpine Tap for use with metal top sheet skis. When mounting a ski with a metal top sheet it is also a good idea to tap the hole afterwards. This will help prevent the dreaded "VOLCANOING" and allow the screw to thread past the metal top sheet easier and not ruin the threads.
This tap is TiN coated. Titanium Nitride is a gold colored coating that increases the Rockwell hardness from Rockwell 62 to Rockwell 82, it also increases the lubricity by 35%. The bottom line is that the life and sharpness of the tool is easily doubled.
